MPUX
- MPE on UNIX
Your trusted environment can travel with you!
Wouldn't it
be nice if you could login into your HP-UX account, and do something
like the following:

No, this is
not a drawing or a telnet session to an HP-3000. It isn't a weird
POSIX shell game under MPE either. This is the real stuff: a screenshot
of a genuine MPUX session on an HP-9000.
MPUX,
a complete MPE-like environment
MPUX,
the MPE-on-UNIX product by Ordina Denkart, offers a true MPE-like
environment on UNIX. The environment includes a command interpreter,
a file system, various subsystems and utilities. Jobs and Sessions,
Spooling, Batch streaming etc. can all be managed like you did on
the HP-3000 platform.
MPUX
is built on top of an intrinsics layer, that emulates an extensive
amount of MPE system functions. The different MPUX utilities like
the command interpreter, FCOPY and SORT use the same intrinsics
as they did on the HP-3000. Because of the quality and range of
this emulation layer, MPUX can offer complete compatibility like
no other product.
MPUX
features
MPUX
currently has the following emulation features:
- CI:
Large series of commands (incl. UDCs and File Equations)
- JOB/SESSION:
same commands and environment
- SPOOLER:
same commands and subsystem
- SCHEDULER:
same commands and subsystem
- Utilities:
include FCOPY, SORT etc.
- Intrinsics:
>90% complete (except LOG; NLS on HP-UX only)
- Miscellaneous:
support for CONSOLE, MPE file system etc.
MPUX
does not aim to be a perfect copy of the MPE environment (MPUX doesn't
use any HP code) but offers the common set of functions that are
effectively in use at HP-3000 sites.
MPUX
availability
MPUX
runs on HP UNIX platforms (HP-UX, Linux) and Windows operating systems
(including NT, 2000 and XP). MPUX is available as a boxed product
as part of ViaNova 3000 STANDARD migration solutions only.
